Why Dine By The Tyne?
On top of all the great Novocastrian things you're already aware of; Cheryl Cole, Shearer, Gazza, The Toon Army and Ant and Dec, Newcastle is also home to the train... yes George Stephenson, inventor of the steam train was a Geordie!
In the old days, before 2012, there was only one way to dine in the North Eastern centre of the universe - a sausage roll and a stottie from Greggs the Bakers washed down with a Lucozade while reading Viz comic.
But now you can enjoy the dining experience of a lifetime as renowned chefs prepare culinary feasts whilst you sit back and enjoy the magnificent view above the River Tyne. Okay, technically it's in Gateshead just across the river, but what's a jog across the Millennium Bridge or summer skinny-dip between friends?
Why-aye is Dinner in the Sky so champion?
Let's be honest, how often do you get the chance to eat gourmet food from a sky table, suspended 100 feet in the air?
If your answer is "I divv'n knorr", well... for an exclusive period, Events in the Sky's pop-up restaurant will err... pop up next to the Sage Gateshead's landmark live venue in Performance Square.
Last year, Dine by the Tyne saw some of the North East's best restaurants and chefs transfer their menus to the unique sky table, suspended 100 feet in the air. You and around 20 other guests will be hoisted into the air along with a head-chef, sommelier and waiters serving from the centre. It is truly a gastronomic experience like no other!
But it's not just your tea... sorry dinner that will lift you up, up and away; there are Breakfast Flights, Wine Lunches, Afternoon High Tea, Champagne and Evening Cocktail flights (complete with experts to help you design your own cocktails) to choose from.
And being Newcastle there are, of course, local home-brews on offer too!
