Why feel the need for Goodwood Festival Of Speed?
The last week of June is full of British cultural highlights - the elite are scoffing strawberries and cream at Wimbledon while indie kids find ever more creative ways of jumping the fence at Glastonbury! But if you’re a petrolhead, be it a biker or a roadster, there’s only one place to be on the last weekend of June - Goodwood Festival of Speed.
For you, the choice is easy, but jazz-funk musician extraordinaire and supercar-lover Jay Kay’s mantra every summer must be “Glasto or Goodwood, Glasto or Goodwood?”
Okay... convince me what's so enthralling about Goodwood!
Held in the grounds of the Duke of Richmond’s delightful Goodwood House in West Sussex, The Festival of Speed is “the largest motoring garden party in the world”. A unique summer weekend based around the famous annual hill-climb brings together a heady mix of stars and motorsport’s ‘royalty’ to see automobiles galore. From Formula One race cars and Moto GP bikes to vintage vehicles, hill-climbers, supercars and all things automotive.
You can attend for just one day or all weekend, with grandstand and hospitality packages to suit your taste buds and your wallet - you can take to the skies for a helicopter pleasure flight or if you really want to bring that Glastonbury feel to proceedings, you can even camp the weekend! Maybe that’s what Jay Kay will do this year!
