Why Chill In This Ice Hotel Sweden?

There are few places left on the planet where you really can truly lose yourself in the moment and leave your life behind. But Life of Riley wants to make this Absolut crystal clear… the Ice Hotel Sweden is definitely the one place to melt all your worries away.

Located in Jukkasjärvi, a chilly 200 km north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland, you can forget your weltschmerz in this veritable ice palace! The snowy sanctuary features an ice chapel, an ice art exhibition hall, a cinema and the world famous ‘Absolut Ice Bar’ where you’re absolutely invited to imbibe on the local tipples to warm your cockles!

So how do The Northern Lights, sleeping on a bed made of snow and ice, cuddling with your loved one under reindeer skin blankets and waking up to hot lingonberry juice sound?

Why This Ice Palace?

Well, apart from being the world’s first and largest Ice Hotel, each winter global artists have gathered here for the last 23 years to create 50 newly designed rooms using 30,000 tonnes of snow and 10,000 tonnes of crystal clear ice from the nearby Torne River.

After that lingonberry juice and breakfast, there are a host of winter activities that are sure to bring a smile to your permafrost grimace! You can spend your days driving teams of huskies, head off on a snowmobile safari or rent cross-country skis or snowshoeing equipment to head off into the wilderness on your own!

There are two restaurants - the Ice Hotel Restaurant, awarded with the prestigious Werner Vögeli Statuette and the charming Old Homestead Restaurant (800m away) which offers a rustic á la carte menu overlooking the river.

Sweden might be the land of Thor, but the last thing we want is a thaw at the Ice Hotel!
