Why an Icebreaker Expedition to The North Pole?
I know what you’re thinking; travelling by ship to any destination immediately brings up images of Hawaiian shirt wearing cruise ship goers. Well, a Nuclear Icebreaker is anything but a cruise.
On this 14-day Arctic voyage, you’ll come aboard the nuclear icebreaker, 50 Years of Victory, as you explore the High Arctic and (literally) take a stroll around the world in celebration with your fellow passengers as you explore this dramatic and untouched part of the planet.
Starting your adventure in Russia, you’ll embark from Murmansk on a 4-day trip to the most Northern point on earth. At the North Pole, you’ll spend a few days seeing the Arctic from land, sea and foot...
Ok, apart from going to the North Pole, what else is special?
You’ll view the moving icebreaker from the air on a helicopter ride, feel the thick pack ice under your boots while walking over glaciers and observe polar bears, birds and walruses as you sail through the ice caps.
You’ll also venture to The Franz Josef Land archipelago--as part of the Russian Arctic National Park--a nature sanctuary for untouched wildlife. Here you’ll spot penguins, bears and (if you’re very lucky) whales.
At the end of your trip, you’ll have had a once-in-a-lifetime experience and bragging rights for having spent time on an icebreaker.
