Why The World In 2019 Gala?
If you’re the type who believes work and pleasure are one and the same and you fancy yourself as an economics clairvoyant, it’s time to join your high-brow brothers and sisters at The World in 2019 Gala, where you’ll be frowned at if you don’t talk about the office at the dinner table.
After some refined 'networking cocktails’ it’s down to business, kind of. You and your clients will rub shoulders and predictions with fellow readers of The Economist, business moguls, senior government representatives and pioneering academics. As for parlour games, how about a drawing lesson so you can create caricatures of your (least) favourite world leaders?
Never mind Colonel Mustard in the library with a candlestick, this is Kevin Kallaugher, editorial cartoonist at The Economist, in the dining room waving his magic pencil!
Bold Social And Economic Predictions Meet Fine Dining.
This year the World In 2019 Gala will take place in Singapore's plush Grand Hyatt Hotel, before branching out into equally-insightful iterations in Hong Kong, Sofia and Athens.
The award-winning gathering will see invitees being candid and, a few cocktails later, providing visionary predictions for the year ahead. Speakers this year include Malaysian politician, civil rights activist and mother Nurul Izzah; and Indonesian presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. But the crescendo as always is Daniel's Dozen, where the executive editor of The Economist, Daniel Franklin plays God in his modestly-titled Review of The World.
