World Cosplay Summit, Japan
Japan is a beautiful contradiction - the land where ancient ghost stories clash with futuristic science fiction. While rural locals fear ghouls and demons, city dwellers are always on the lookout for Godzilla and giant robot Kaiju. And where do these two universes collide? At The World Cosplay Summit, of course!
The WCS is where gamers, geeks, goblins, ghosts, ghouls, geishas and Gatchaman come together in a celebration of Japanese culture and battle it out for the ultimate prize - to be crowned Best Cosplayer in the eight known universes.
What Makes The World Cosplay Summit the best?
Since its inception in 2003, when just four countries attended, the event now attracts over 18,000 superheroes, ninjas, comic book characters and warriors from 35 countries.
Unlike other events, The World Cosplay Summit takes place over a one-week period in several locations giving you the chance to visit different parts of Japan, including Akihabara, Kyoto and Sendai. There, in addition to the cosplay competitions, you’ll join an incredible Opening Ceremony and sample traditional and modern pop culture, delicious food and awe-inspiring sights that make Japan the craziest, most serene country in the world!
After the heats, it’s time to Get Ready… Fight! in the city of Nagoya which will be overflowing with cosplay activities ending with a giant street parade featuring tens of thousands of cosplayers all turning their fantasies into reality.
